Most pressure washing contractors still climb upon the roof and use their high pressure nozzles or even worse, a surface cleaner, to clean roofs. The ARMA (Asphalt Roofing Manufactures Association) warn against using high pressure nozzles on roofs. When using high pressure, you will dislodge the granules (the grit) from the shingle. This causes your shingle to become weak and eventually allows water to seep between the shingle and wood decking. NEVER allow someone to use a pressure washer on your roof.
